My first post.... so hard... I love to talk. I love to write. I think I will start with some goals for the year. I hope to use this blog to help chronicle my journey.... So in no particular order.... here goes....
1) Get our house decorated... We have lived in our house for 3 years and still have yet to finish decorating. I love decorating. I have a lot of plans... I just have trouble finding the time and resources to execute those plans... It has been a slow process... I was pregnant and had an infant for half of this time, so I have that as an excuse. :) But I hate staring at blank walls and windows, and really want to make our house more of a home. I am determined to get it done this year.
2) Lose my baby weight... I have two little girls. I have never been overly athletic, but I have never really been overweight either, until I had my daughters. I gained most of my weight with my first daughter 6 years ago. I had my second daughter almost 2 years ago, gained a little more, and got so caught up in life as mom, and I put myself last. I want to lose weight, get more physically fit, feel healthier, and set a good example for my daughters.
3) Get organized... I am a pretty organized person... I don't like clutter... I believe everything should have a place and I like everything in it's place. With a husband, two of my own kids, and several daycare kids here on any given day, it is tough to stay organized. I have an ongoing quest to get more organized (and stay that way) in all aspects of my life.
4) Strengthen my relationships... It is so easy to get lost in the day to day goings on in life and lose sight of what is important.... relationships with hubby, family, and God. Without these things, the other things in life seem pretty insignificant. I want to try to do more to spend more quality time with my family (both hubby and my girls as well as our extended family) and strengthen my spirituality this year.
5) Become more proficient in the kitchen... My ability to cook (or lack there of) is an ongoing topic of humor in our family. Thankfully my husband is a pretty decent cook, so we don't starve, but I feel it's my duty as a wife and mom to do a better job in this area.
6) Grow my business... I recently opened an in home daycare. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and worked outside of the home until I had my younger daughter in 2010. I lost my job shortly after that, and with the lack of jobs available combined with my education and experience, I decided to become licensed and open my own daycare/preschool out of my home. This is a new endeavor for me. I hope my passion for all things "early childhood" will shine through to my clients and I hope to spend this year building a strong business with a good reputation in my community.
Life is a process... I am always trying to better myself and be the best me I can be. I hope to use this blog as a personal journal and maybe help motivate some other moms along the way. This is going to be a big year for me and my family. I look forward to it!
